World of Weird: The Curious Case of the Missing Hours

On the night of September 19, 1961, Betty and Barney Hill were driving home through New Hampshire's White Mountains when they noticed a strange light following them. As the cigar-shaped object appeared to move closer, Barney stopped the car and looked at it through binoculars. The couple later reported seeing a large, brightly lit craft—and Barney said he could make out figures inside.

 Where did the time go?

They drove away, but when they eventually arrived home, something didn't add up: their trip had taken roughly two hours longer than expected. The following day, they reported the UFO sighting to the Air Force.

Now, here's where it gets weird.

During separate hypnosis sessions with psychiatrist Dr. Benjamin Simon, the Hills described memories of being taken aboard a craft and subjected to medical examinations. Their experience spawned a bestselling book and is cited as one of the first widely reported alien abduction incidents.
